Plaid Nerikomi Espresso Mug

A sweet 6 ounce cup perfect for an espresso or kid size beverage.

Layers of avocado green stained porcelain were stacked to create the checkered pattern. I took a cross section of these layers reveal the design. This ancient technique is called nerikomi.

I used the cross section to build a mug and matching handle. The inside has a clear glaze and the outside has been left unglazed. Each mug holds approximately 6 ounces, two are available.
